When do children need to wear custom insoles? Are custom insoles a must?

Custom insoles are primarily designed for children with identified biomechanical abnormalities or foot disorders. These include flat feet (collapsed arches), foot varus/valgus, knock knees or bow legs, and abnormal gaits such as pigeon-toed or splay-footed walking, as assessed by professionals including pediatricians, physical therapists and orthotists. They are also suitable for children who suffer from fatigue while walking, foot pain, knee pain, or even lumbodorsal discomfort resulting from foot problems.
If a child has no noticeable discomfort or physical abnormalities, and parents merely consider their foot posture unappealing subjectively, custom insoles are generally not required.
