The 1st Academic Seminar on Motor System Diseases and Rehabilitation
& Hubei Academic Forum on Local Standards for Sports Rehabilitation
The 1st Academic Seminar on Motor System Diseases and Rehabilitation together with the Hubei Local Standards Forum for Sports Rehabilitation, hosted by Hubei Society of Kinesiology, was grandly held in Wuhan recently. The event gathered experts and scholars from the fields of medicine, sports engineering and rehabilitation assistive devices across the country to discuss cutting-edge theories and development trends in the treatment and rehabilitation of motor system diseases, sports engineering and rehabilitation assistive devices.
The conference kicked off with an opening address by Dean Li Xugui, Vice President of Hubei Society of Kinesiology. Guo Huan, Secretary-General of the Professional Committee for Materials and Application of Assistive Devices under China Assistive Devices Association, also delivered a speech. He stressed the need to build an efficient bridge between the R&D of assistive devices, new materials and clinical application, so as to facilitate the implementation of the Healthy China Initiative.
In the keynote forum, Professor Zheng Weitao, Director of the Key Laboratory of Sports Engineering (Wuhan) under the General Administration of Sport of China, presented a special report entitled Integrated Development of Sports, Medicine and Engineering. This was the first time that the cross-border integration concept of combining sports, medicine and engineering was put forward.
Professor Fan Jiajin, Deputy Director of the Foot Assistive Devices Committee of China Assistive Devices Association, gave a presentation themed Full-life-cycle Foot and Spinal Health and Assistive Device Intervention. He advocated a holistic view of foot and spinal health throughout one’s life, and reminded the audience to pay close attention to abnormal foot morphology and plantar pressure, such as flat feet and hallux valgus. Early detection and intervention are essential, as foot problems may affect the entire human body.
01 Breakout Session: New Perspectives in Rehabilitation by Zhihui Assistive Devices
The conference also hosted six parallel sub-forums for academic exchanges, covering new technologies in foot and ankle treatment & rehabilitation assistive devices, sports medicine, sports rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries, health management technologies for children and adolescents, exercise-based rehabilitation for osteoporosis, as well as spine and spinal cord disorders.
Ms. Pan Xiaofei, General Manager of Zhihui Assistive Devices Health Consulting (Hubei) Co., Ltd. (MSc, BSc (Hons), Registered Podiatrist with the UK Health and Care Professions Council), delivered a speech at the foot and ankle forum entitled Application of Smart Assistive Devices in the Rehabilitation of Sports-Related Foot and Ankle Injuries: From Data Monitoring to Personalized Intervention.
Starting with basic knowledge of sports-related foot and ankle injuries, she elaborated on the vital role of smart assistive devices in rehabilitation. Combined with real cases involving spinal conditions and other complex ailments, she vividly illustrated how such devices deliver personalized intervention via precise data monitoring. This presentation has helped the audience gain a fuller and deeper understanding of rehabilitation for foot and ankle sports injuries, while offering fresh ideas and valuable references for clinical practice and rehabilitative treatment.
